Updates on Our Memorial
Our memorial is changing!! The grass is growing, the wildflowers are beginning to bloom. It truly is a beautiful place. We are hoping that by this fall, we will begin to put our children’s names on the wall. At last count, we have 135 tiles to put on the wall of children that have died. We know it is way too many, but we are hoping that by parents seeing their child’s name on the wall while the angel watches over them, it will give them some comfort.
What are we working on now? We cut the tiles and drilled holes in the top of them one evening. There is nothing that this committee cannot do. The tiles and the names have been delivered to the person who will engrave them for us, but before that, we want to make sure that the font for the tiles is perfect. Once we give him the go ahead, he will start engraving the tiles. Once we get some back, we will begin to place them on the wall. Another big job, as we want them placed perfectly, we have a professional helping us with that too.
Our biggest challenge right now is being able to put security lights and security cameras on our site, which we want to do before winter. We need to make sure that everything is safe and secure. The quote that we have received for the lights, cameras, poles and the wiring to run them is around $15,000.00. We are holding a 18-hole big cup golf scramble in memory of Tim and Tully Tollackson at the Snowflake Ski Club in Westby on October 4th with funds made going toward our security project. You certainly are welcome to come. There will be lunch served at the Snowflake grounds along with raffles and silent auction baskets. We also will be selling 100 raffle tickets for $100.00 each, and the winners will be drawn that day. If you want a ticket, reach out to any one of the committee members.
If you are reading this, and would like to donate to our security project, you can donate through this website or mail a check to the address on this site.
Thank you for all of your support. This memorial is going to be even more amazing than it is right now.
